Portfolio > Earth to Sky Landscape Series 2018-19

Liz Prescott Artist Statement

I find myself coming full circle with this series. In many ways these landscapes are a return to my beginnings in oil pastel and acrylic. I am again fascinated with the intersection of earth and sky, the nuances of space, the abstraction of lines, the seduction of color. I realize the lasting impressions of my childhood memories growing up around farm fields in Vermont. There is a closeness to those fields, and I also want to feel the vastness of space like the plains out West (part of my heart belongs in that space, too.) The land south of Burlington, VT in the Champlain Valley has that feeling of vastness. It often feels like the eye can go on forever...
